After the success of the OUYA on Kickstarter, a Chinese firm now launches Ouye on a local crowdfunding site. A beautiful blend with particularly obvious inspirations.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is too expensive for you? Anyway the only games that interest you and are Candy Crush Angry Birds? Your dream console could therefore come from China, as the Ouye, which is reminiscent of the OUYA, the micro console recently acquired by Razer and whose commercial flop only matched its success at its crowdfunding campaign.
The console is offered on JD Finance, a Chinese equivalent of Kickstarter, and will be designed if the project reached 100,000 yuan, or about 14,000 euros. Its appearance is particularly controversial because of its flagrant inspirations, as it endorses the form of a PS4 from Sony, with the famous air vents of the Xbox One (Microsoft). Even his stick almost closely resembles that of the latter.
Regarding the specifications, however, there is no comparison between this game platform ersatz and consoles that are needed in our living rooms. Running Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) the OUYA has an UltraOcta Allwinner A80 processor coupled to the GPU PowerVR G6230 and 2 GB of RAM (LPDDR3). Although more powerful than OUYA, so it displays already exceeded specifications (dating from early 2014) for this kind of product.
The rewards for backers possible to obtain the console from 439 yuan, the equivalent of 60 euros, which suggests that its final selling price will remain under 100 euros. In the course that crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal, which is not guaranteed given that the console is already criticized China because of its too wide inspirations.
