Asus unveils ROG G501 - its first ultra-thin laptop gamer

The manufacturer Asus has just announced its first ultra-thin computer for gamers. The Asus G550 was not necessarily very impressive for a model for players, but Asus has gone even further with the new Republic of Gamers G501. With new graphics cards from Nvidia Maxwell whose consumption is very low, manufacturers can reduce the size of the cooling system and design thinner machines. Asus ROG G501 and displays a thickness of 20.6 mm and a weight of 2.06 kg.

This model features a 15.6-inch matte screen available in several versions: Full HD, Full HD IPS and even definition Ultra HD (IPS) 3840 x 2160 pixels which is in our opinion a bit too high. The GeForce GTX 960 M with 2 or 4 GB of GDDR5 will then manage 8.1 million pixels screen while it done correctly the last turn in 1080p. So we advise rather to opt for a Full HD IPS model.

At processor, Asus has opted for the Intel Core fourth generation, the Core i7-4720HQ with four cores running at 2.6 GHz and a Turbo mode to 3.6 GHz with a TDP of 47 Watts. Memory side, the notebook comes with 4 or 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 welded to the motherboard, but it has more of a location for a bar for mounting to 12 or 16 GB of DDR3. For storage, Asus offers SSD 128 or 256 GB hard drive or even 1TB SSD PCI Express 4x 512 GB with a speed of up to 1.4 GB / s.
