After months of waiting, the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu is finally available. Only sold in China at the moment, this new variant is expected to arrive in Europe in the coming weeks.
Upon its release last year, the Meizu MX4 had surprised the small world of mobile telephony by its performance. It is indeed a moment remained the best places in the ranking of the AnTuTu benchmark tool, which ranks them according to their power smartphones.
If he was working on Android in its “classic” version, we then saw out under Ubuntu OS. Meizu and Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) had indeed formalized their partnership last November, promising us the arrival of Chinese smartphones this brand new OS. After months of waiting, so we saw the MX4 Ubuntu is formalized at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last February.
Its output represents even a small event since it is only the second smartphone running Ubuntu to have been formalized after bq Aquaris E4.5. We were also able to test it that got somewhat disappointed. Indeed, its format is not suitable for the use of Ubuntu, especially because of its slab at the front topped by a usual touch area reserved for Android and therefore useless with this OS.
Ubuntu has also disappointed us because of its downturns, provided a fairly catalog of applications, but also burdens both in its setting and in its use.
But still keep in mind that this is a new interface, and that improvements should be made to it gradually.
However, unlike bq Aquaris E4.5 The MX4 is a powerful smartphone, which should take full advantage of the mobile operating system from Canonical.
It is indeed with a beautiful IPS LCD screen of 5.36 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1152 pixels with a resolution of 418 dots per inch.
The MX4 is driven by a powerful octa-core processor MediaTek MT6595. It is composed of eight cores: four Cortex-A17 clocked at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A7 clocked at 1.7 GHz. Added to this are a GPU PowerVR G6200 MP4, RAM and 2GB internal memory that can vary between 16, 32 and 64 GB depending on the version. Photo hand, it’s not bad either since it MX4 features a 20.7 megapixel sensor on the back of the device. Finally, note that this smartphone is compatible 4G / Wi-Fi and it has a battery of 3100 mAh.
Available in two colors (white and gold), the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu is currently available on the website of Meizu at a price equal to 209 euros. Marketed only in China for now, it should soon be arriving in Europe. We will keep you also know when we’ll know a little more about it.
