When talking about smartphones or tablets processors, we often think of Qualcomm and the must firmly Snapdragon installed in our beloved devices. But that would be to forget the fierce competition between manufacturers and in this game there MediaTek surprises with SoC premium 64 bit which could overshadow the greatest?
SoC which should be more present in flasgships this year should be the Snapdragon 810, but other actors ensure. We refer of course to Samsung’s Exynos house solution that is gaining more and more to be known. MediaTek, meanwhile, is best known for these processors to entry-level, but that was before.
With the MediaTek MT6795, the manufacturer openly targets the high-end market and intends to come shake up the established order. These are in essence the thoughts that come and discover the latest SoC performance marked on GeekBench. The latter show … more encouraging (click to enlarge).
Specifically, in the single-core test, the famous MT6795 gets a nice score of 886 points. The same test in multi-core then rises to 4536 points. Not bad, considering that the Snapdragon 810 under the same terms in 1144 and 4345 in the second test. It seems that both SoC are neck and neck on testing. Bodes well for MediaTek which previously figure of Tom Thumb in the field.
As always, the benchmarks are relative. In the case of Snapdragon 810, they come from a LG G Flex 2, while those from an unknown MT6795 smartphone. The latter has also 3GB of RAM and Android Lollipop whiles the LG G Flex 2 up only 2 GB and a screen resolution in full HD 1080p.
What can we learn from these feats? MediaTek openly targets the high end while trying to seduce disappointed manufacturers Qualcomm. In China for example, the recent woes of the Snapdragon could push several manufacturers to equip alternatives with equivalent performance. The challenge is size. To watch this year
