The Mini-PCs are becoming smaller and LIVA X is no exception to this rule. The new system of ECS offers very interesting characteristics, including small size, high energy efficiency and a heat dissipation system fanless
The Mini PC ECS LIVA X comes to the second generation by getting rid of the fan and small pedestals, and bringing the overall size slightly lower. The Taiwanese manufacturer has managed to cram an entire system can run Ubuntu, or Windows 8.1 with Bing choice, within what he considers the space of a mouse. In fact the dimensions are slightly larger, although in absolute lot contained.
The processor used is an Intel Celeron N2808 architecture Bay Trail-M 1,58GHz with TDP of 4.5W supported by 2 or 4GB of RAM DDR3L. This development is related in performance over the previous generation, even if the RAM in more should guarantee a significant performance boost in certain circumstances. Two proposals also with regard to the integrated storage, 32 or 64GB of eMMC chip
The peculiarity of the system is however derived from the absolute silence that guarantees during operations. The use of a storage unit in the solid state and the total absence of fans are the essential features in order to obtain this result, obtained thanks to the total consumption of the whole system maximum, equal to about 15W. In terms of connectivity, we find a Gigabit Ethernet port, controller Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and three USB ports, one 3.0.
LIVA X can be connected to a monitor via the VGA port or HDMI, with audio handled by the Realtek ALC283. The bearing surface (135×83) is slightly larger than the original model, but the height of only 4cm, is greatly reduced thanks to the elimination of the fan. Unlike its predecessor, the second generation of LIVA X is compatible with the VESA standard and can be attached in the back of the monitor.
Have already been published the first reviews online product with opinions on the whole positive, however the products of this type are not yet of the potential substitute for a traditional desktop system as the performance guaranteed by current technology still not enough. The price is still very inviting although slightly higher than the original ($ 179): the new LIVA X retails for $ 209.99 for 32GB version, which becomes $ 249.99 in the 64GB version.
