ASRock has plans to release a new miniature desktop computer that will run on Intel Celeron N3000 and have a passive cooling. This silent PC will be called ASRock Beebox.
ASRock Beebox should appear on the market in June or July this year. Beebox, in principle, is similar to Intel NUC dimensions, however, almost all of NUC equipped with coolers for active cooling. The device from ASRock, in turn, is based on a 4-watt chip Intel “Braswell”, which does not produce a lot of heat. Housing Beebox designed so that the computer does not need active cooling with fans.
Another feature of this device is that it has a new universal port USB Type-C. In addition it has a normal 3 port USB 3.0, Ethernet, a pair of HDMI-port, DisplayPort, audio connector, as well as modules 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
The computer has two SODIMM slots supporting up to 8GB of RAM, as well as compartments for mSATA SSD and a 2.5-inch SATA.
ASRock, most likely, will offer several models Beebox. One is equipped with 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of storage and Windows 8.1, and the other – 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage without an operating system. It is also expected to yield barebone systems without memory and storage – the user decides what he needs filling. The cost has not been revealed.
