Asus has used the Computex to announce two new tablets. They inaugurate the range Zenpad. The first is a mid-range tablet with call function. The second is a decidedly high-end model.
Computex opened today in Taiwan. Asus was of course present for the occasion and from him the idea to make up the numbers. He was the first manufacturer to hold a press conference, conference where were presented many innovations. We have already presented the ZenWatch 2 and the ZenFone Selfie. There were also two tablets, the first range Zenpad.
So Asus has finally decided to gather its smartphones and tablets under a common label. And he probably well done. The ZenFone enjoy a good reputation, so as to benefit the shelves. They also employ the same overlay, which is called ZenUI and served here with Android 5.0 Lollipop. There is thus also certain logic behind this change, rather than a real will to break with old models.
The first Zenpad numbered Z380 might as well go for a new FonePad with its appellate function, thanks to its 4G compatibility, and features entry-level or middle. We first find an 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Inside, it’s a quad-core chipset Intel Atom X3-C3230RK 1.2GHz we find. It is associated with a GPU Mali-450MP4 and 1 or 2 GB of RAM depending on the region. The internal memory also varies, 8 or 16 GB, but the location is microSDXC fortunately still present. Photo devices 5 and 2 megapixels complement the data sheet.
The second is a little more surprising. She responds to the name Zenpad S (model number Z580CA) and presents itself as a resolutely high-end tablet. The screen measures 8 inches there too but adopts 4: 3 ratio in addition to a higher resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It also relies on a much faster one configuration, based Atom Z3580, also consisting of four hearts, but more finely engraved and clocked at 2.3 GHz. It is further associated with a GPU PowerVR G640 and 4GB of RAM LPDDR3. The internal memory also reached 64GB.
The Zenpad S is however silent on 4G. Connectivity options are limited by the Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.0. Also note the presence of a USB-C port instead of the traditional microUSB for charging and data transfer. It is also equipped with cameras of 5 megapixels and 8 for a total weight of 299 grams.
Several accessories were also presented to complement Zenpad. They include several cases, including an Audio Cover to simulate 5.1 sounds and a stylus. Neither price nor release date have not yet been disclosed, however.
