Zeaplus just announced a smartwatch turning “truly Android.” Indeed, it does not carry Android Wear as its congeners, but Android 4.4 KitKat.

 After several tests with an operating system of its own, Zeaplus announces new smartwatch, turning this time Android. The originality of this Zeaplus Watch K18 is to run on an OS originally intended for smartphones, not its variant intended specifically for connected objects, namely Android Wear.

 In terms of technical features, the Watch K18 does not depart much from her sisters with a 1.4 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels, a MediaTek processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, of 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also has a SIM card slot enabling it to be autonomous and receive calls and SMS. It also includes a heart rate monitor and pedometer. No details were disclosed about the WiFi and Bluetooth standards however.

 Contrary to what is usually done, the software part is not Android Wear, but Android 4.4.2 KitKat in a version “optimized for connected objects” that the company has dubbed ZOS. This is however not a first attempt with its TrueSmart for example, had already proposed a watch on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However recently switched to Android 5.1 Lollipop with his TrueSmart +.

 Aesthetically speaking, the smartwatch borrows from its circular G Watch R classic watch design with a beveled crown.
