Meizu has announced that MX4 Ubuntu would soon be formalized. The presentation of the smartphone should even take place next week at MWC in Barcelona.

If the arrival on the market of a Meizu smartphone OS Ubuntu was almost certain, both Meizu and Canonical companies formalized their partnership last November, we were still waiting for official confirmation. Indeed, rumors are made more and more about it from the beginning of the year, but no information could not allow us to say anything.

 An expected global launch

This confirmation came today because Meizu has announced on his Weibo account that MX4 Ubuntu would soon be formalized. The posted image also indicates the URL of the international website of Meizu, confirming a worldwide launch.

And according to the Android Headlines site that would have taken direct contact with Meizu, the presentation of the MX4 Ubuntu would even place next week, since the smartphone would be presented by Canonical during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. After bq and Aquaris E4.5, the Chinese manufacturer would be the second to market a device running Ubuntu.

If the rumors gave the impression that the first smartphone Meizu to operate under Ubuntu would be the Blue Charm (also called m1 mini), due to its lower price, it seems that the manufacturer has preferred to showcase this new OS is in delivering to its flagship of it a year ago.

As a reminder, this MX4 has an IPS LCD of 5.36 inches under which lies a MediaTekMT6595 octo-core processor, with four Cortex-A17 cores running at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. . This chipset comes with a GPU PowerVR G6200 MP4 and RAM 2 GB Available in versions 16, 32 and 64 GB; it also carries two sensors picture: one 20.7-megapixel rear with dual LED flash, and the other 5 megapixel front. The configuration should not change with the passage under Ubuntu.

We should know more next week on the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu. You can also count on us to tell you more as soon as possible.

The Linux Ubuntu operating system is a longstanding project for the company Canonical Ltd., founded by South African Marck Shuttleworth Canonical has created a unified ecosystem Mobile-Desktop, a bit ‘like Microsoft to be clear, but progress to today turn out to be a very satisfactory.

MEIZU was very active part in this project, participating with vare compilations of demos and rumor on the smartphone with Ubuntu on board, even in the days dell’MX3.

Today the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has released a teaser rather curious and interesting on its Facebook page. The image alludes to a new operating system that will be called Flyme or Yunos and that, in all probability, will be presented at MWC this year which, remember, will land in early March in Barcelona.

Meizu will present an Ubuntu Phone at MWC 2015

Instinctively we thought Ubuntu Touch, which we hope to see soon in the devices of mass production. This intuition is supported by rumors of an Ubuntu MX4 that will be marketed in the first months of 2015.

The flagship device of MEIZU was repeatedly candidate to have experience Linux on board and, in this sense; we may have some pleasant surprises in March, as we stand before a MX4 or MX4 PRO that, in addition to offering hardware high-end, would bring with it a new OS. It is not, however, exclude the possibility that MEIZU present one completely new smartphone to be launched on the world market of Mobile.

In any case, this is important news, Ubuntu Touch promises a desktop complete with the final design of a phone or a tablet with Ubuntu running connected to a larger screen, it is a TV or a laptop PC. In any case we are talking about talking about experiments, the “full desktop convergence” still has the sign “work in progress” in plain sight, there are still many hardware requirements to satisfy, but the new generation of mobile devices has the potential to Linux is that the ecosystem can lead to good results. In short, then the first smartphone with Ubuntu on board and we are sure MEIZU is already gearing up on the launch pad.
