Pipo K2 – 11.6-inch display and Intel Core M SoC

Pipo K2 - 11.6-inch display

The Chinese Tablet specialist Pipo Shenzhen Technology brings a comparatively soon likely to be very effective 11.6-inch tablet with the new Intel Core M platform on the market. The unit is now on display for the first time on a series of images.

The new tablet from Pipo, whose name will be probably K2 offers at a screen diagonal of 11.6 inches, a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and is a 2-in-1 device designed with attachable keyboard dock. So far, the keyboard dock has not yet seen in public, and it is unclear whether it is merely a case with a cover, or a full-fledged dock should be offered.

According to the information and photos published in the forum of the Zol.com Pipo K2 will come up with an IPS panel and thus offer small viewing angle dependence. Under the hood Pipo K2 sits here, the Intel Core M 5Y10c dual-core SoC, whose cores are working with a base clock of 0.8 GHz, but upshift by Turbo Boost up to 2.0 GHz to provide more power when needed.

Because the Core M – SoC 64-bit support has four gigabytes of memory to be installed here at the factory . Whether a version is provided with eight gigabytes, is still far from clear. The same is unfortunately also true for the capacity of the internal memory and battery, and hence for the duration. What is certain is that there is a microSD card slot, a MicroHDMI output for connection to external displays or TVs, a microUSB 3.0 port and a separate power connection should be provided.

It is interesting that the images from China indicate an extremely flat design Pipo K2, which probably should not move much in excess of seven millimeters yourself. Nor shall it be in the device shown a prototype, so no information on availability and prices available. Pipo is primarily known for its low prices and may now refer to a wide range of Intel-based tablets with Windows 8.1 – also because the chip manufacturers work closely with the Chinese company.
