Unveiled in Las Vegas in early January, the ZenFone 2 finally ready to be marketed. The first market to receive it is obviously Taiwan, where Asus has just held a press conference. The opportunity to review the prices of different options, including two new ones.
Asus caused a stir at CES with its ZenFone 2. Unlike the first model launched in 2014, it was only to represent the range and rested on a decidedly upscale data sheet. Only constant, the price was still content as it was announced that $ 200 for the version with 2 GB of RAM. Surprises at the opening of pre-orders on an Asian shop that’s passed the $ 299 Asus but there was obviously nothing.
€ 200 for ZenFone 2 with 2 GB of RAM
The manufacturer has just held a news conference at the commercial launch of its ZenFone 2 Island of Taiwan and the information collected by our MyDrivers colleagues is somewhat reassuring. The manufacturer is first returned to the rates of the model presented in Las Vegas (ZE551ML). Count 6990 Taiwanese dollars for the 2GB version and NT $ 8,990 for the 4GB version, about 200 and 260 €.
Noted, however, that memory capacity is not the only difference between the two versions. The frequency of the chipset also varies. 2.3 GHz in the best configuration provided, it goes in the other 1.8 GHz. The rest is the same: Full HD 5.5 inch display, 32GB of internal memory, 4G compatibility, 13-megapixel camera and 5-megapixel webcam. All under Android Lolliop dressed ZenUI.
Two new models more economical
Little surprise, two other models have also been formalized for the launch. They retain ZenFone 2 trade name but are distinguished by their model numbers and, of course, their data sheet. The first is stamped ZE550ML and no longer offers a HD resolution display and 16 GB for storage. The continuing decline with the second, and stamped ZE500CL with a less comfortable display (5 Inch HD) and a slower chip (1.6 GHz).
With these two new models, Asus finally completes its range to make up part of the segment covered by the first generation with an additional bearing about 175 € and a first fixed price of 150 €. Now remains to be seen which of these ZenFone 2 arrive in Europe. Only the Taiwanese launch has obviously been addressed.
